A construction industry client secured a new contract with an FTSE 250 company, but did not have enough available cash flow to meet the huge start up costs.

We worked with our client to produce a detailed cash flow forecast based on previous company performance and our own industry knowledge. This enabled us to easily model the impact of different funding options available to the business over a short term and long term period. They used this to aid their decision making and chose the most suitable option for them.  

 

RESULT 

We used the business forecast to secure funding on behalf of the client, meaning they could accept the new contract and purchase the new equipment needed. We removed the stress of cash flow from the client completely, allowing them to expand their business. 

SITUATION 

A client operating a tenanted pub business was struggling to keep up with rising costs.

Our team performed a benchmarking exercise using real-time management information for a number of clients in the same industry. The exercise revealed that this client’s rental payment was significantly above the industry average based on the size of the business, the location and the turnover. Further conversation with the client revealed they had suffered multiple rent increases over a short period of time from the new landlord and management agent.  

RESULT 

The client was able to use information from our benchmarking analysis to negotiate a rent review.  

SITUATION  

The client was struggling to control rising wage costs, which were having a significant impact on their net profit.

Providing monthly management accounts, we were able to suggest and monitor customised KPI’s on a real-time basis. We worked alongside our client to develop a plan to introduce a performance-related bonus scheme to incentivise staff.

Our client’s wages to turnover ratio reduced and staff were more motivated to help the business grow.  

 SITUATION  

Our client had been unable to submit their self-assessment tax returns to HMRC for the past 20 years due to health problems, which was causing them a lot of stress.

We liaised with them to collate all income and expenses and calculated their tax liability. Our team communicated with HMRC on their behalf and came to a desirable settlement, removing the worry from our client.  

RESULT  

Clients’ self-assessment tax is now up to date!  

SITUATION  

A client was selected for a routine HMRC VAT inspection.

This can be worrying news for business owners, but we reassured our client there was nothing to worry about. As part of our VFO service, we handled all VAT compliance for them and ensure all returns are accurate and reported on time. Therefore, we were able to liaise with HMRC, providing all the information requested in a timely maner. We attended the meeting with the HMRC officer on the behalf of our client.  

 

RESULT 

HMRC were very happy that our client’s VAT returns and records were tax compliant. They closed the case swiftly.
